Free Range Vs Broiler Farming
'Free Range' is a term that is loosely used by many manufacturers and has caused much confusion to consumers. By definition, 'free range' farming refers to the ability of the animals to access the outdoors. It does not refer to a specific type of bird grown or the type of food fed to the birds. Due to the sensitive nature of chickens and their vulnerability to disease, Sovereign Foods makes use of the broiler method of farming. Our chickens are kept in very large chicken houses (approx. 120m long) where they have the ability to move around freely and feed at will. These chicken houses help isolate the chickens against diseases and provide them with the perfect climate for their health and well-being. Under no circumstances do any of our farms use the battery method of farming, where chickens are kept in cages. Our chickens are fed with only the best quality feed and carefully nurtured, as healthy chickens mean tasty and nutritious chicken products for our consumers.
